Our Mission

Our Mission

Kreyòl and Beyond is a nonprofit literary collective dedicated to promoting Haitian culture and language through the promotion of Haitian literature. Our consortium of authors and educators is committed to preserving the rich tradition of Haitian storytelling by making books available in multiple languages, rooted in tradition, and told for the world. 

Our focus is children's literature, particularly early childhood introduction.

  • Create a recognizable and trusted brand for readers, educators, and institutions.
     

  • Advocate for the inclusion of Haitian cultural books in schools, libraries, and community programs.
     

  • Partner with organizations to field-test and develop high-quality, culturally relevant materials.

  • Promote the importance of sharing Haitian heritage and culture globally.

    • An esteemed Haitian educator and school director, with decades of leadership in literacy and curriculum development.

  • Dr. Sara C. Mansbach (right) (Greenville, SC, USA)

    • A literacy expert and advocate who has worked with Haitian educators and children since 2009, focusing on Creole books and inclusive learning environments.

Kreyòl and Beyond is a multilingual Haitian book collective made up of authors, educators, and advocates who believe in the power of storytelling especially via Haitian Creole to preserve culture and inspire learning.

 

Our focus includes all the creative ways books teach and inspire children—from early concept books and illustrated stories to informational texts and classic children’s literature formats.

Together, we are building a movement to ensure Haitian stories are not only told—but cherished, studied, and passed on.
